Chapter 14 ~ Nobody Likes a Slacker: The Downside of Overachieving
“You can still do all the things you want to do, but I’d like you to take a hard look at it all” (171).
Things to Consider (172):
- First things first–your physical health.
- Take inventory of your personal relationships.
- Look at what you do to take care of your emotional well-being.
“Being still, slowing down, and resting will likely cause you to think about what might not be going well for you in your life and feel all the feelings around that” (173).
“…failure is to be embraced as part of the process to make you better” (173).
“You’re awesome with or without your achievements” (175).
Chapter 15 ~ Values: Your Roadmap
“When you know your values, you’re clear on what’s important about the way you live your life” (177).
“Your values are what make you feel good about you” (178).
Two questions to ask yourself (179):
- What’s important to you?
- What is important about the way you live your life?
“It’s not about winning or kicking ass all the time. It’s about knowing what’s important to you and why, as well as wha tit means to take action on your values. All in order for you to feel good about who you are and proud of how you’re behaving” (185).
Chapter 16 ~ What I Know To Be True
“It’s fine to fall apart sometimes” (190).
“…treat yourself with grace and tenderness and do your best” (191).
“But when we pledge to do them, learning, serving, and loving can be the most beautiful things you’ll ever do” (191).
