Chapter 8 ~ Perfectionism Prison: Self-Destruction at Its Finest

“Remember, you always have the power to change old beliefs, habits, and patterns” (112).

 

“You can still be awesome and let go of being perfect” (113).

 

“…when criticism strikes, pay attention, get curious, and get clarity” (114).

 

“That making mistakes is a natural part of being human and is something to learn from, rather than something to be avoided at all costs” (114).

Chapter 9 ~ Being Strong: The Illusive Tough Exterior

“Being strong means walking toward the negative emotions…and even the so-called good feelings… […] Strong is shining the light on them and feeling them” (123-124).

Being Strong Is (126):

  • Asking for help.
  • Not doing All the Things
  • Actually feeling your feelings

“Making your peace with being strong will come from giving yourself permission to feel your feelings” (127).

Chapter 10 ~ Just Let Me Do It: Start Letting Go of Control

“Surrendering means to stop fighting, stop resisting, stop acting like your life depends on you having all the power over everything and everyone. It doesn’t” (133).

 

“What are you afraid might happen if you let go of control?” (133)

Self-trust is (135):

  • The ability to know the decisions you’re making are the right ones for you, at that particular time.
  • Knowing you are divinely taken care of
  • Letting go of outcomes and knowing things are good

“Self-confidence comes from your thinking, but self-trust comes from your heart” (135).
