Maintaining Mental Strength

The Conclusion of 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do by Amy Morin

I hope that you have learned as much as me from this book and that you incorporate some of the strategies to become mentally strong from it. Enjoy this post and remember to be mentally strong throughout your happy and healthy adventure. 🙂 ❤

“Look at what you’re doing well and build on your strengths. Identify areas that need improvement and challenge yourself to get better. Create opportunities for growth but understand that you’ll never be perfect” (248).

Steps to improve a little each day (248-249):

  • Monitor your behavior
  • Regulate your emotions. “Remember, if you want to change how you feel, you have to change how you think and behave” (249).
  • Think about your thoughts

“It’s hard to become your best self without help from other people. Ask for help you need it and surround yourself with supportive people” (249).

I have so many people in my life that have helped me with different aspects of my life, from fitness to school to everything in between. Find your people and ask for their help when you need it-they are in your life to support you.

“Developing mental strength isn’t about having to be the best at everything. It also isn’t about earning the most money or achieving the biggest accomplishments. Instead, developing mental strength means knowing that you’ll be okay no matter what happens” (251).

“Not only will you be ready to deal with the realities of life, but you’ll be able to live according to your values no matter what life throws your way” (251).

“When you become mentally strong, you will be your best self, have the courage to do what’s right, and develop a true comfort with who you are and what you are capable of achieving” (251).
