YAB: Chapter 24

Chapter 24: Money, Your New Best Friend

This chapter is all about your relationship and perspective on money.

Here are my favorite quotes from the chapter:

“It was about no longer being the kind of person who takes what she can get, and finally becoming the kind of person who creates exactly what she wants” (202).

The context for this quote was the author deciding what type of car she wanted to buy. She decided to buy the more expensive car because of the attitude she cultivated in her mind. Be someone who DOES NOT just take the first thing offered, but someone who GETS what they WANT.

“When you up-level your idea of what’s possible, and decide to really go for it, you open yourself up to the means to accomplish it as well” (204).

Think BIG ideas, decide you’re going to GO for those big ideas, and you’ll be provided what you need to ACHIEVE your big ideas.

“It’s (making money) is about who you become and and what you believe is possible for yourself” (205).

Jen says that making money is more than just making money. Your beliefs surrounding money, and your beliefs about yourself allow you to become the best version of yourself you can possibly be.

“…those who achieve success share one key thing: the belief that they can be, do, and have whatever they set their minds to accomplishing” (208-209).

If you want to be successful, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.

“The more you have, the more you have to share” (209).

You can think of this in regards to money (after all, that’s what this chapter is ABOUT), or you can think of this in regards to your skills. If you have more money, you have more of it to give. If you have lots of talent or enthusiasm, you have more of those qualities to share with others.

“This means being wealthy psychologically, spiritually, and energetically as well as materially” (213).

In a church related blog post, I talked about how a person can be poor in many ways. The same holds true for wealth. Make sure that you are wealthy in all of these areas, or are working towards it.

“Be your best, do you best, demand the best, expect the best, receive the best, and put your best out into the world so everyone can receive your best, too” (214).

Because why should it be ANY OTHER WAY!?

“One of the best things you can do to improve the world is to improve yourself” (214).

Improvement has a domino effect.

“Nothing has any value other than the value we put on it” (215).

Jen explains this concept by saying that a $100 bill is just a piece of paper, but it’s worth $100 because that’s the value attached to the bill. A person’s time, their work, etc. has NO VALUE until someone puts value on it.

“Instead of being in reaction mode, it’s about being in action mode. It’s about no longer acting like a victim (letting your circumstances control your life) and instead acting like a superhero (creating a life that has you waking up in giddy disbelief that you get to be you)” (219-220).

Reactions don’t get you anywhere, but actions DO. So take action like a superhero and don’t label yourself a victim.

I hope you enjoyed the quotes I selected from this chapter and that you can relate to them on your happy and healthy adventure. 🙂 ❤
